Pathways through Change

Bringing growth, structure and resilience into the school day

Overview

Pathways through Change is a school-based intervention that helps young people reconnect with themselves, their peers and their potential.

Designed for those at risk of exclusion or exploitation, the programme blends martial arts with guided personal development to support emotional and behavioural change.

We also work closely with families, school staff and key professionals, creating a joined-up, supportive environment around each young person as they begin to build a more positive path forward.

What we aim to achieve

Through movement, reflection and relationship-building, we help students develop focus, emotional awareness and a stronger sense of self. Sessions take place both during the school day and after school, and are shaped in collaboration with each school to meet the needs, context and dynamics of the students involved.

The programme supports better attendance, more positive choices, and greater confidence — in and beyond the classroom. For some young people, it’s about re-engaging with school. For others, it’s about exploring what comes next, whether that’s training, employment or a renewed sense of direction.

“Taking Shape and its team are an unstoppable force of inspiration and passion for youngsters.

We were blown away at the support they offer the next generation.
